Sophia Molina
Violin • 2025 Young Artist
Sophia Molina is a violinist from Miami, Florida. She was inspired to begin her musical studies at the age of 4. Two years later, she joined the Greater Miami Youth Symphony and for the following 10 years, advanced through their four ensembles, winning their Concerto competition twice. In addition to having performed multiple times as soloist with orchestra, she also had the opportunity to perform at Carnegie Hall as a winner of the American Protege International Competition. In the summer of 2019, she performed again at Carnegie Hall, the Royal Albert Hall, the Elbphilharmonie, the Concertgebouw, and other concert halls throughout Europe as part of the National Youth Orchestra – NYO-USA.
Sophia recently completed her Bachelor’s degree at the Juilliard School studying under Hyo Kang. She previously studied with Miclen LaiPang and Charles Castleman. She graduated high school at the New World School of the Arts, where she was the concertmaster for three years. Additionally, she won the NWSA concerto competition twice, along with having received several other awards at the state and national levels.
As part of her summer studies, Sophia has attended the Castleman Quartet Program, the Heifetz International Institute, the National Youth Orchestra, the Colorado College Summer Music Festival, and the Aspen Music Festival. Sophia is passionate about chamber music and was a founding member of the Superpower of ME, which was a local non-profit that provided instruments and music scholarships for local students during her time in high school.
