Barbara Jöstlein
Horn
Barbara Jöstlein joined the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra in 1998 at age 22. Raised in Chicago she studied at the Juilliard School on a full scholarship with Julie Landsman. She has performed with the Los Angeles Philharmonic, San Diego Symphony, and as Associate Horn of the Jerusalem Symphony. A longtime professor at Bard College, she has also taught at Juilliard, Mannes, and Manhattan School of Music. She has been featured at major horn symposiums and is an active recording artist, having collaborated with artists including Billie Eilish and Tony Bennett. She is founder of Brass Witch and holds two patents for her brass accessory inventions.
