Alexander Knecht

Alexander Knecht, from Loma Linda, CA, joined the San Diego Symphony viola section in 2025. Previously he taught violin and viola as faculty at Riverside Community College, and continues to teach privately. In previous summers he has taught at the Montecito International Music Festival and studied at the Mariachi Nationals Workshop in Santa Ana. He has volunteered at Community Kids Connection, a program in San Bernardino providing free music lessons to local low-income schoolchildren, since 2008. In 2019 he founded a free violin class outreach program at the Los Angeles Chinese Seventh-Day Adventist Church. He earned his DMA from USC, MM from Juilliard, and BM from La Sierra University, where he studied with Festival Mozaic violinist Jason Uyeyama.
