Scott Yoo's signature event, a Notable Encounter takes the audience on a "museum docent's tour" through a piece of music, a composer, or both. Join Scott Yoo and the Festival Artists for these informal and interactive events in which you'll learn about the composer and their lives, hear examples of their musical influences, and get a behind-the-scenes look at how our musicians prepare and learn this incredible music.
Fun Fact: Notable Encounters were the inspiration that led to the creation of Scott Yoo's television program, Now Hear This!
In the Summer 2025 SLO Music Festival, we are proud to present three of these events. Two low-cost Notable Insights which will last about one hour and teach you about the music of Hungarian composer Ernő Dohnányi and living American composer John Adams. The Notable Soirée will include a one-hour musical presentation, followed by a wine and hors d'oeuvres reception with the performers.
