Now Hear This with Scott Yoo

Season Four of Now Hear This returns Spring 2023!

Festival Mozaic's Music Director Scott Yoo, is also a renowned violinist, conductor of the Mexico City Philharmonic, and conductor and festival artist of the Summer Music Festival at Colorado College.  On top of all this, Scott is also the host of the acclaimed PBS series: Now Hear This.

The PBS miniseries presented by Great Performances merges music, storytelling, travel and culture, as Scott chases the secret histories of some of the greatest music ever written.  The PBS crew has been to San Luis Obispo twice: once to film scenes for the season two episode titled "Becoming Mozart" featuring pianist Stewart Goodyear, and again in July 2021 to film the episode entitled "Amy Beach" which will air later this year.   They filmed at Festival events at Tolosa Winery, Halter Ranch Vineyard, Mission San Luis Obispo de Tolosa, as well as at rehearsals in several private homes and on location in other beautiful places in San Luis Obispo County.

The most recent episode featuring Festival Mozaic focused in part on acclaimed American composer Amy Beach and her development as the first successful female composers coming out of the United States. Music by Amy Beach, as well as pieces by other well-known female composers Fanny Mendelssohn, Clara Schumann and Lousie Farrenc, was featured on the 2021 Festival Mozaic programs.

The Amy Beach episode will be released on April 8, 2022.  Festival Mozaic will be hosting an early release preview of the segment for supporters of the festival and San Luis Obispo County industry leaders.

Episode One: Amy Beach, April 8  (filmed in San Luis Obispo County during Festival Mozaic).
